For
your “saplings” we have age-appropriate explorations that include 3 – 30 minute activities. 1. Garden Tour: (choose one) Global Harvest [available year round] tour of the tropical Sun
Garden will introduce students to tropical plants we use every day, like bananas, chocolate, chewing gum, vanilla, spices,
perfumes and more. This tour will open their eyes to the importance of international trade. OR Outdoor
Garden Exploration [seasonal and/or weather permitting] option is available
for teachers who want to learn about seeds in the fall, plant adaptations/textures in the winter, the life cycle of plants
n the spring, or plant/insect interactions in the summer. If this option is chosen
and the weather does not cooperate, the “Global Harvest” tour may be substituted on the day of your visit. 2. Greenhouse Explorations: Students will learn about plant adaptations and propagation through planting a seedling
to take home. 3. Supplemental activity: Choose one or more of the following depending on your group size: Canopy Walkway: Small teams will be challenged to create a miniature scale working structure using materials provided. Rainforest Survival Game: Working in pairs, students will learn about plant and animal relationships. Tropical Trivia Board Game: Small teams will compete as they learn about life in the rainforest. Design a Plant: Working in pairs, students will learn about the adaptations of plants and create a new plant specimen.Enter content here Enter content here |
