Cost and Frequently Asked Questions....

Q.  What kind of experience will my students have at the Quad City Botanical Center?

A.  Educational Programs at the Quad City Botanical Center are guided by staff and/or trained volunteers.  Programs are designed to enhance classroom curriculum through hands-on interactive learning experiences in our gardens, greenhouse and/or supplemental activities.  Our programs provide age-appropriate guided activities to help youth understand the tremendous value plants have in their everyday lives.

Q.  How much time should we plan to spend at the Botanical Center?

A.  Each educational program is designed to include three 25 minute activities for a 75 minute complete program.  This 75 minute time period does not include check-in, gift shop, or restroom breaks; please plan time for extra activities according to your school’s needs.

Q.  How much does an Educational Program cost at the Botanical Center?

A.  Educational program fees are $3 per student, except for the special PreSchool & Kindergarten “Storyhour” programming, which is $4 per student. Larger groups (more than 60 students) may be required to add an additional activity at $1 extra per student.  For school groups, one chaperone or teacher is free for every 5 students.  Each additional chaperone or teacher pays $3 per person.

Non-school groups with fewer than 10 students will be charged $5 per student.  Non-school group chaperones will be charged $2 per adult, with no free chaperones, regardless of number of students.

Payment is requested upon arrival.

Q.  How many students can participate in an Educational Program at the Botanical Center?

A.  We require a minimum of 10 paid students for a program.  To facilitate learning, schools may be asked to divide their students into small groups to rotate through activities.  For example, a school with 60 students would divide into 3 groups of approximately 20 students each.  Large classes (more than 60 students) may be asked to add an additional activity to create smaller groups.  The fourth activity can either be led by a Botanical Center guide for an extra $1 per student or a teacher-led activity at no extra cost (ex: rainforest movie or bug bingo game).

Q.  What if our group does not have time to visit the Gift Shop?

A.  Blooming Bags are grab bags filled with fun items such as temporary bug tattoos, stickers, and other items selected to help the child remember their visit to the Botanical Center.  Small bags are $2.00 each, Large bags are $3.00 each, and either must be ordered two weeks in advance.
